What is the importance of a name?

I am really enjoying researching and writing about the importance of being able to identify the fauna and flora in the eco-system in which they work as a Forest School Leaders . This assignment is taking me on a journey and I am re-looking at things I have always cared deeply about. I just wanted to share one of my favourite authors talking about the importance of naming things in nature because he hits in the nail on the head.
